Corps de Ballet
A native of Pinar del Rio, Cuba, Yosbel Delgado began his training at the E.V.A. in his hometown, where he studied for five years. Mr. Delgado’s first professional position was with the Camagüey Ballet in Cuba, where he danced much of their repertoire, including several works by Osvaldo Rivero. After a year and a half, he joined the Ballet Nacional Ballet de Cuba (Cuba National Ballet) under the direction of Alicia Alonso. During his two years there, he danced featured roles in many works including Von Rotbart and the pas de six in Swan Lake and in Don Quixote.
In 2002, Mr. Delgado came to the United States and began studying at The Rock School for Dance Education until he joined Pennsylvania Ballet as a member of the Corps de Ballet in December of that year. Since then, Mr. Delgado has danced featured roles such as the Jester in Cinderella, Hot Chocolate and Cavalier in George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker, Spanish dance and other roles in Swan Lake, pas de six in The Taming of the Shrew, Dracula and other roles in The Firebid, peasant pas de deux in Giselle, and pas de trios in Sleeping Beauty. He has also performed in The Concert by Jerone Robbins, Kazimir’s Colours by Mauro Bigonzetti, Carmina Burana by Mathew Neenan, Five Tangos by Hans van Mannen, Nine Sinatra Songs, Western Symphony, Messiah, Fearful Symmetries, The Four Temperaments, Romeo and Juliet, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Carnival of the Animals.
